Year 7 notes about Bats from their EOTC Caving Day

Bats
Bats are native mammals.
There are only 3 species in New Zealand.
Greater than short tail Bats.
2 of the Bats are classed as threatened.
The Maori refer to bats as Pekapeka, night flying birds, and Hokoi.
Long tailed bats are common throughout New Zealand in the 1800’s and were recorded in colonies of scores.
