Pack Day
On the 26th of August the Year 8’s had a “Pack day”.
For “Pack day” we had to pack things into our pack ready for Powell Hut like: Spare clothes, Medicine, and pretty much survival gear. We did this because we had to get used to our 11/13 KG packs ready to climb to Powell Hut..
We started the day with a 4 lap walk around the Carrington Park track. Then we had a break from the bags during morning break. Once that was over we headed to Rm13 with Whaea Michelle to learn about Baseplate compasses. We had to walk around the school towards different places find out how many steps it took to get there and what degree we came from.
After that we all got a lollipop and had lunch. Lunch went by quickly and we had to put those heavy packs back on...but then... we got to create delicious (sort of) trail mix. We got in groups and chose what to put in. We put in everything. We put the good stuff in first so it all was at the bottom because of that Dion and I waited until last so we got all the good stuff.
A few minute later we got to try out the other stuff that did not contain nuts. They had Rice Crackers, Stick things with dijon mustard, and my favorite one of these was the spicy chip things.
At the end of the day we had to do a circle/square around town for an pamphlet drop. The strange thing was only around 6 people actually did the work. Everyone just talked the whole way around, but it was good fun, talking the whole way. Once we got back the bell went and we went home.
Today Pack Day was a fun but tiring day.
