Next week is Leadership Week and we will be recognising some of Carterton
Schools Young Leaders. This year’s theme for Leadership Week is #believeyoucan
which is taken directly from Sir Peter Blake’s last log on-board Seamaster.
“To win,
you have to believe you can do it. You have to really want the result, even if it
means years of hard work”.
As part of Leadership Week we have a member of the 'Dream Team' visiting our
school to speak to the Year 7 and 8's on Tuesday 30 June at 1.00 pm. This year
we have Sue Foley visiting us. Sue is the Director of Corporate Affairs at Westpac
NZ and is also the Deputy Chair of the Sir Peter Blake Trust Board. Sue is based
in Auckland but her home is Masterton and every year she asks if she can visit a
school in the area that she grew up in. She joined Westpac from Massey University
where she was Assistant Vice Chancellor, External Affairs, responsible for its
marketing and communications, and a member of its Senior Leadership Team.
Prior to Massey University, Sue was General Manager Corporate Affairs of Toll NZ
from 2003 - 2008, a period of significant change and public scrutiny for the
organisation with the changes of ownership from Tranz Rail, and then to the New
Zealand Government. She has also held senior roles across government, television
and public relations including Chief of Staff of the Opposition (2001 - 2003), Chief of
Staff TV3 News and Senior Consultant at a leading public relations consultancy.
Sue is an inspirational Kiwi Leader who we think will inspire our kids to have big
dreams and to make those dreams happen.
