ENVIROSCHOOLS WAIATA
‘LET THE CHILDREN LEAD THE WAY’
Mā taku tapuwae i te ao nei
E para i te oranga taiao
Mō aku mokopuna e
Let the children lead the way
Chorus:
He tāonga tuku iho
Mā ngā kaitiaki o te taiao
Ki te atawhai ki te tiaki
Mō ngā uri hakaeke e
Ki te atawhai ki te tiaki
Mō ngā uri hakaeke e
Mō ngā uri hakaeke e
My footprints in this world
Leading the pathway for the wellbeing of the environment
For our children
Let the children lead the way
Chorus:
A precious gift handed down
for us
The guardians of the environment
To nurture, to protect
For the generations to follow
To nurture, to protect
For the generations to follow
For the generations to follow

Murray, Robyn Irving, Susan Botting and Peter Heard) at the 2004 Energiser Hui in Manaia,
Northland. The waiata is sung by Ardre Foote from Te Mauri Tau in Whaingaroa, and the
music was engineered by Brent Holt from CSD Producations Ltd.
Hi Room 12 :) What a great blog you have :) We are a Year 5 and 6 class at Yendarra School, in Otara, Auckland and we're wanting to learn this Enviro school waiata too. Would you know where we could find the tune for this song please? We look forward to hearing from you. Keep up the great work with your blog.
