Managing Your Data - For students leaving Carterton School Dec 2015
Now that you are leaving Carterton School, you must retrieve your data if you wish to keep any of the work you have completed using your @carterton.school.nz Google account.
There are two ways that you can do this:
- Transferring data to a personal Google Account - Because school domains do not let users transfer ownership beyond the school domain, students must make their copies using a personal account. To do this, students must first share their work with a personal account before logging in under the personal account and make copies of all document copies (you can copy whole folders at a time). The personal account will own all copies made.
- By downloading a copy of all Google content using the Google Takeout Service. This service lets users download their data from Google Services like Drive, Sites, Blogger, and Calendar.
When logged in to your school account, go to My Account - Control Your Content - Create Archive. You should then be at - https://takeout.google.com/settings/takeout and can select the content you want to download to your computer as zip files.
At the end of December you will no longer be able to use your gmail account but you will be able to access your Drive until the end of Term 1. After this your Carterton School account will be suspended and you will have to contact me if you need to access any work you have not transferred to your personal account.
